On March 7, the Phoenix Quartet [Katrina Rafferty* (Violin), Damara Lomdaridze* (Viola), Shelagh Heath (Cello) & Jacqueline Leung (Piano)] will perform for you a concert of music written by women composers of the Romantic Period. The quartet will perform the first movement of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s Piano Quartet in A-flat Major, the second movement of Luise Adolpha Le Beau’s Piano Quartet in F Minor, Op. 28, the third movement of Amanda Röntgen-Maier’s Piano Quartet in E Minor, and the fourth movement of Mel Bonis’ Piano Quartet No. 1 in B-flat Major. On March 14, American violinist Patrick Yim is going to perform Piazzolla’s Tango Étude No. 3, as well as giving world premieres of two solo violin pieces: “Solitude” by Finnish-American composer Ilari Kaila, and “A Melody From an Unknown Place” by Japanese-American composer Takuma Itoh.
