Language Exchange: Interesting Proverbs in Different Languages/Dialects

Dear CC-ers,
How many languages/dialects do you speak? Are you familiar with the proverbs in these languages? 

Come join this event if:

  • You are a fan of language learning
  • You have CUHK friends who speak different languages/dialects from you
  • You would like to enjoy a free meal with your friends

How to join?
Choose between the following two ways

(1) Video Clip Submission
STEP ONE: Invite your CUHK friends who speak different languages/dialects from you to join this activity.
STEP TWO: Learn to say 3 proverbs in each other’s mother tongue, e.g. 「牛唔飲水唔撳得牛頭低」; “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink”; “水に流す”; “Aller Anfang ist schwer.
STEP THREE: Record the learning procedure. At the end of the video clip, say the proverbs you and your friend(s) just learned. 

(2) Attending One of the Language Exchange Sessions
Join with at least one of your CUHK friends who speak different languages/dialects from you. Each participant shares 3 proverbs she/he has learned from her/his partner.

Guidelines for making the video

  • MP4 format.
  • Upload your video to OneDrive or other cloud service and provide us with the link.
  • Face-to-face meetings are recommended, however, video meeting is also accepted.

Notes

  • Participants will be notified through email for voucher collection if the submitted video is accepted.
  • Participants who attend the Language Exchange Session will receive the voucher after the sharing.
  • Every participant should submit no more than three video clips.
  • The videos may be compiled and posted at the University/ College websites as well as used in promotion materials.
  • The entry must not contain obscene, violent, pornographic, defamatory, objectionable, insulting or any of the controversial and inappropriate content.
  • Chung Chi College has the final decision on the acceptance of the submitted videos as well as issuance of cash coupons.
